The JP Wood Accents Difference
While some may perceive us as “just another flooring company,” we beg to differ. Sourcing wide lumber consistently to produce 8-12″ wide flooring and ensuring 95% of the lengths fall within the 5-12′ range—paired with the specific character and grain patterns we demand—is a formidable task in the open market. To meet our standards, we either cut the lumber ourselves or collaborate with local sawmills to meet our specifications. New England Collection
With the New England Collection, JP Wood Accents invites you to bring a piece of history into your home. Each plank is more than just wood; it’s a story waiting to be told, a legacy of craftsmanship carried forward with pride. This is why we do what we do: to keep the soul of American craftsmanship alive, one board at a time.
Picture a time when the world moved a little slower, and craftsmen measured their days by the rise and fall of the sun. The New England Collection captures this bygone era, bringing the beauty and authenticity of early American craftsmanship into modern homes. With each piece, you can almost hear the rhythmic hum of the circular saw and the sharp scrape of the planer, wielded by artisans who took pride in their work.
For JP Wood Accents, it all began with a love for the stories hidden in the grain of old wood, where each mark and imperfection speaks of a time when things were built to last. In the 18th and 19th centuries, woodworkers relied on rudimentary tools. Circular saw marks ran like whispers along the planks, and boards were skip planed, leaving a textured surface that was as raw and honest as the people who worked with it. These imperfections weren’t flaws; they were the signature of authenticity, a testament to the skilled hands that crafted each piece with care and dedication.
Today, JP Wood Accents honors this tradition by replicating these saw marks and textures in their New England Collection. Each board tells a story. The circular saw marks reflect the transition of woodworking from purely manual methods to the early days of industrialization. Skip planing, a technique where the planer blade just skims the surface, leaves behind the rustic character of the wood, celebrating the natural beauty of the material.
The New England Collection isn’t just about creating flooring, wall planks or beams. It’s about capturing a moment in time, about the feeling of stepping into a room and being transported back to a place where each creak of the floor echoed with history. JP Wood Accents believes that by embracing the techniques of the past, we bring authenticity and warmth to the present. It’s not just wood; it’s a connection to a simpler time, a reminder of the value of hard work, and a celebration of the skilled craftsmanship that built a nation.
18th Century Collection
Each piece in the 18th Century Collection is a bridge to another time, a canvas that captures the essence of early American craftsmanship. The absence of saw marks and the presence of chatter marks tell the tale of a time when wood was shaped with patience, skill and respect. It’s a reminder of the days when homes were built to last, and every piece of furniture, every floor, was crafted to carry the weight of generations.
Imagine a workshop nestled in the heart of a bustling colonial town, where the scent of freshly cut wood mingled with the crisp morning air. Here, a craftsman carefully fed a rough-hewn plank through a manual planer. The planer rattled and groaned, leaving behind delicate chatter marks – those subtle, rhythmic indentations that spoke of a time when tools were simpler and precision was measured not by the exactness of a line, but by the skill in a craftsman’s hand. These marks, left by the blade of a hand-operated planer, became a signature of authenticity, a hallmark of true craftsmanship that time could not erase.
JP Wood Accents is driven by a passion to revive the authenticity of this forgotten art. We believe that in the details of the past lies the key to bringing warmth and character to the present. The 18th Century Collection is our homage to an era when every floorboard and wall panel carried the mark of its maker. By replicating the distinctive chatter marks left by the planers of the past, JP Wood Accents transports us back to a time when woodwork was a labor of love, and every stroke of the planer blade was a note in the melody of creation.
JP Wood Accents believes in the stories embedded in the grain of a simple piece of wood. We know that in a world where everything is moving faster, there is a yearning for the slower, more deliberate craftsmanship of the past. The 18th Century Collection is not just about wood; it’s about honoring the legacy of the artisans who built the foundations of homes and hearts with their bare hands. It’s about preserving the texture of history, about feeling the echoes of the past beneath your feet with every step you take.
JP Wood Accents invites you to bring the spirit of the 18th century into your home. The 18th Century Collection offers more than just flooring or paneling – it offers a connection to a heritage of craftsmanship, a touch of history that resonates with every glance and every touch. This is why we do what we do: to keep the stories of the past alive, to celebrate the beauty of imperfection, and to honor the hands that shaped our history, one plank at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Wide Plank Flooring
We use engineered hardwood for our wide plank flooring. Why? Engineering, which involves a multi-layer base to the floor plank, creates a much more dependable substructure that won’t bend, twist, warp or shrink with time. While the top 1/4″ of the plank is true hardwood, this substructure is designed for unrivaled longevity and durability.
